Sublime...partial birth.....4/20

-----------------------
I love the Sublime Box Set I got for Christmas. Oh man.... I have the biggest crush on Bradley Nowell... Im really trying to commit to things these days, and Im starting with favorites. Favorite Sublime Songs: Waiting For My Ruca, Dont Push, and BadFish......
Favorite Album: 40oz to Freedom! Such a good one... If I ever get a tattoo... I will definately consider getting that big sun..
---------------------
The Partial Birth Thing..... I actually happen to lean toward the pro-life side most of the time. Some may find this suprising, but I think the fetus is a living human person that deserves a chance, that does not mean, however, that I am a crazy..t-shirt wearing.. clinic bombing pro-lifer... I dont want those connotations people! I completely understand how 14 and 15 year old girls can find themselves knocked up and feel like there is no other way out. I think these girls should be helped and consoled. Im also hesitant to say that all abortion should be illegal... That would probably just result in girls doing it themselves with coat hangers etc...
--------------------
4/20.... I really like the stories and urban myths behind this number. I like it as a time of day and as a day of the year. I think its clever and funny.... I also like it as a day to come together adn push for legalization. Its not physically addictive, and its a lot better than alcohol.. dont smoke it though, its terrible for your lungs.. there are some great recipes at HighTimes.com -----------
----
--------------------------I certainly wish everybody a Happy Late 4/20

So.. My boyfriend hosted a Canadian foreign exchange student last weekend. It was pretty interesting. He was from the East Coast of Canada (I think he said Nova Scotia, but im not positive). His name was Chris, and ALL HE WANTED TO DO WAS GO TO HOOTERS!! Personally, I find Hooters a little degrading but I submitted to it with the mental justification that it is in fact a notable American institution that Canadians are bound to be curious about. I was pleasantly suprised to find that the food is really really good!!! Extremely bad for you and greasy as hell, but really really good! Their ad campaigns and strategies are brilliant to be sure! The place was packed! and one just cannot deny that they have cornered the market for horny men (and the occasional orange-hot-short-loving lesbian) looking for beer and hot wings! And 7.99 a pitcher is really not bad (especially when the university is reimbursing all reciepts). The hot shirmp are great too, and the curly fries made me want to mouthgasm! There was the frustrating situation with the skantily clad waitresses..... Now I am all about freedom of expression, and if orange hot shorts do the trick, well then so be it.... but when the orange hot shorts are hitting on my boyfriend.... big problem! My boyfriend responded politely and appropriately (major points for him considering that he had had a few beers and the waitress was absolutely gorgous.. not to mention barely contained in her teensy white tank and orange hot shorts). After a while I stopped checking to make sure my boyfriend wasnt staring at the orange asses that sauntered by... because frankly, I was too! They are BRIGHT ORANGE.. The effect is impossible to avoid... YOU CANT LOOK AWAY! So props to the Hooters people for affectively using all this to their advantage.... Unfortunatly there are many women benig objectified and used in the process... which really pushes my buttons, but I'll keep the feminism to a minimun (for once). Man... now my mouth is watering for those spicy shrimp and greasy wings!

......Vacation.......

Vacation.
I have recently discovered the bliss of travel.
I had never truly taken a road trip by myself until recently and I cannot even tell you how wonderful it was.
I went to louisiana to visit my boyfriend. His parents invited me, which was a little scary since I had never met them. I had all sorts of scary 'Meet The Parents'esque senarios running through my head. I just knew they werent going to like me, but suprisingly, I think they did. I am terrible at first impressions, so I was absolutely paranoid about doing something stupid, but I survived.
The real genius of the trip was the feeling I got from driving there by myself. It was truly empowering! I had tons of time to listen to music and relax. I got away from my family and my routine. It was great. I am going to make a point to take more little trips like this one. Maybe next time I will take a freind for company, but its really nice to know that I can get myself from pointA to pointB all by myself if I need to.
It was also great to see the boyfriend.

Halloween

Im ripping this post off of another blogger.. thanks kristi

I love Halloween.. which is pretty out of character since I hate scary movies, haunted houses, etc.
Halloween brings back some of the best memories of my childhood. Block parties in particular. I was the queen of bobbing for apples people! My mom would make my costumes, which could get dicey, but its the thought that counts. She is very conservative and a little weird, so every year we had the same fight.....: I wanted to be a witch.... she said absolutely not..... so I end up being a princess, or a hippie, or a jeanie, etc... (something benevolent)
Since my name is Katherine, I was called Kat until about 4th grade, which meant that I had to be a black cat just about every other year.. Thats the best costume though because all you need is some cat ears, a black t-shirt, and some black eyeliner to draw whiskers with.
Amanda is a total sicko! She loves any type of scary shit.. I think she went to every haunted house in the city this year..
She is always trying to drag me to scary movies.. The last one she talked me into was Silent Hill... It really wasnt that scary though.. jumpy and gory, but i can deal with that... Its the demonic horror that really gets me.... or the horror movies that seem a little bit plausible...
Psyco terrified me!
American Psyco scared the shit out of me.
That one where death is trying to get those kids was pretty gross...

Amanda's mom; however, is the queen of halloween costumes.. I think she was Slime in the Ice Machine on year... Thats commitment people!

Departed

The Departed... It was an excellent film to be sure, but it was just so disturbing. Jack Nicholson was really creepy, Matt Damon was sexy, but a little obvious. Leonardo DiCaprio was REALLY sexy and really really convincing. DiCaprio and Damon really outshined old Jack in my opinion. DiCaprio especially. I wasnt sure who the leading lady was, but she was pretty good too. She had to be, to act next to Damon and DiCaprio. The film is your standard crime drama; police, irish mob, rats on both sides .. . etc. It was really interesting to see the parallel characters that Damon and DiCaprio played. Damon skated through life and DiCaprio just couldn't catch a break. Mark Walberg and Martin Sheen were also in the film. Sheen was great in the role. He was believable and intense, but without upstaging anyone. Walberg was great, but a little over-kill at times. He had some really funny dialogue towards the beginning, and does the brooding thing well. Overall, I recommend this movie, although theres quite a bit of violence and 'fuck' is pretty much every other word. I will be genuinely disappointed if Jack wins awards and Leonardo doesn't, because he really was better. Anyways. I thought it was time for a movie review.
